Barbara Juanita Kinkead

On February 15, 1963, Barbara married the love of her life, Ron Kinkead, at Landmark Baptist Church in Lonoke, Arkansas. Shortly after, they made their home in Oklahoma City, where they built a life together.

Barbara devoted nearly 50 years to a career in the banking industry, where her strong work ethic and pride in caring for her family shone through. Since 1985, she was a part of Cherokee Hill Christian Church, where she had many friends that she considered family. Known for her welcoming spirit, Barbara was a friend to all she met.

Her daughter, Christy, was her closest companion, and their home became the gathering place where friends always wanted to be. Barbara was deeply supportive and gave generously of her time. When she became a grandmother, temporarily retiring, dedicating her days to playing Barbies, hosting tea parties, and cherishing every moment with her grandchildren—memories that brought her immeasurable joy.

Barbara shared a love of OU football with Ron, holding season tickets for many years. The love they had for each other was special and an amazing example of a loving and dedicated marriage. Her grandchildren fondly recall that, “you always knew Nanny was coming in for a kiss—and if you weren’t quick enough, it was going to be on the lips! That was one of the ways you knew she loved you.”

Her faith and family were her strength throughout her life.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron Kinkead; and her siblings, Henry Wilson, James Wilson, Bobby Wilson, Teddy Wilson, Iva Lee Wright, Edna Linam, and Eva Mae Linam.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christy and John Ausley; grandchildren, Addison Ausley, Benito Ausley, and Avery Ausley; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, church family, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Cherokee Hills Christian Church, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
