

Bobby Don Brock, 70, of Choctaw, Oklahoma passed away December 14, 2015. He was born December 5, 1945 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to A.B. and Alma (Sowers) Brock. Bob grew up in Wewoka and graduated from Wewoka High School in 1964. He then earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from East Central State University in 1968. Bob married the love of his life, Rowena Cary, on November 27, 1969 and the two began their life together. He returned to school and in 1985 earned a Master’s Degree in education from Central State University. He came to Choctaw in 1968 where he coached football, wrestling, and track under the tutelage of Choctaw coaching legend, Bill Jensen. Bob’s coaching career spanned 17 years. As the Head Wrestling coach from 1970 to 1978, his squads celebrated 8 winning seasons, a conference championship, numerous regional and state qualifiers, 2 state champions, and was named conference coach of the year in 1973. As Head Football coach of the Yellow Jackets from 1978 to 1985, Choctaw grew from a class 2A district to a class 5A district. During this period, his teams reached 4 state playoffs and 2 state quarter finals, he was named District Coach of the year in 1981 and named OCA/OSSAA. Bob Brock’s career at Choctaw spanned 30 years serving as educator, coach, Vice-Principal, Principal and Athletic Director. He was inducted into the Choctaw Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. After his retirement from Choctaw Schools, Bob worked for Lewis Eye Care Clinic for 13 years. Bob enjoyed fixing things, making his own recipes, and going to the mountains of Red River, New Mexico. He was a member of Sooner East Church of Christ and served as a Deacon for many years. Bob spent many hours working at the church, and especially loved caring for his “pet project,” the Baptistry. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Rowena of the home; daughter, Tami Blomgren and husband Scott of Midwest City, OK; son, Michael Brock and wife Rebecca of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Daniel Blomgren, Amanda Blomgren, Abby Brock and Jack Brock; brothers, Bill Brock and wife Billie of Oklahoma City, OK, Winford Brock and wife Earline of Tecumseh, OK; sister, Pat Delcour of Oklahoma City, OK; and a host of close family members and brothers and sisters in Christ. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Freda (Brock) Gillion and Marjorie Brock; and brother, Jimmy Brock.
