Bobby D. Harris, also known affectionately by his three daughters as Pappy, Papparoni and The Papster, passed with the peace he deserved on Feburary 10, 2014. He was born in Oklahoma City to Tinus and Mary Harris on November 24, 1929. He was a generous and loving husband to his surviving wife, his beloved Kathanell and our beloved Mammy, for an amazing 53 years. He taught us to ride bikes, play catch and drive stick shifts (two out of three), and attempted to teach us many other things that we resisted like steel detailing, algebra and driving stick shifts (one out of three). He loved his trombone, and the swinging tunes of Dixieland Jazz and Big Band music. As a young man he played in the Air Force band and later as a less young man he played in community bands as well as routinely blew his horn around the home. He passed as he had lived the last 53 years, with our Mammy by his side and holding his hand. Our Pappy had a rare purity of heart, generosity and humanity for which we should all strive. We were incredibly fortunate and we will miss him dearly. Kathy Harris, Shelley and Dante diTommaso, Tracey, Robert and Samuel Hickey, and Keeley and Roger Miller. A memorial service will be held at Guardian Funeral Home West Chapel, 5820 NW 41st St., Warr Acres, OK 73122 on Saturday, February 15, at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 14, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation to support Alzheimer's research.
