Carolyn Joan Furr, “Carol”, was born on September 19, 1946 in Farris, Oklahoma. Carol completed high school at Beaver, Oklahoma, where she was the class Valedictorian. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern State University. Carol also completed a Master of Arts degree at the University of Oklahoma and a law degree from Oklahoma City University.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Carol taught history, government and language arts at Tuttle and Norman public schools. She tried to inspire her students to be aware of the history of the United States of America and its relationship to world history. Carol also tried to encourage students to appreciate art and world literature.
She maintained a private practice in Watonga, Oklahoma prior to working for the Oklahoma state government, first at the Oklahoma Criminal Justice Resource Center and later at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations. She received the Medial of Service Award during her period of service at the O.S.B.I.
Carol retired in 2014, but she always took pride in having been admitted to the practice of law in Oklahoma. Carol believed strongly in international relations and took great pride in being a patriotic American. She was a strong supporter of women's and children's rights and loved movies, Broadway musicals, and literature from around the world.
