Rev. Catherine Dupree Roberson, lovingly known as "Miss Kay," entered her eternal rest on January 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that touched countless lives. Catherine Dupree Roberson was born on October 26, 1934, in Eastman, GA, to Arris Fountaine Dupree, a devoted missionary, and Chesy James Dupree, a hardworking tenant farmer, her journey began with humble roots deeply grounded in faith. At age two, her family relocated to Pittsburgh, PA, for a better life. She accepted Christ at age 11 and was baptized at Willoughway Baptist Church in Braddock, PA, under Pastor Nyland’s leadership. She served as an associate minister at Christ Missionary Baptist Church at Ellenville, New York, under the leadership of Pastor Mary Gunther from 2010 to March of 2017. Rev. Catherine also served as an associate minister at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Tatums, Oklahoma since May of 2017 under the leadership of Pastor E. A. Copeland Jr., her son-in-law.
Miss Kay worked at Korvettes department store in the 1970s and 1980's, first as a clerk, then she was promoted to Department manager, and ultimately became a regional troubleshooting manager before retiring. She was first called to the ministry at 30 years old but chose to try to outrun God. She accepted her call to the ministry in 1977 and has served in various ministry capacities over the past 40 years.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology and pursued a Master’s program in psychology at Ohio State University at the age of 50. She became an ordained reverend in 1980 and later became a Certified Paralegal for the state New York. She served in Oklahoma as a certified instructor of the National Baptist U.S.A since 2018.
A true Kingdom woman, Rev. Roberson’s life was dedicated to spreading the Gospel and serving others. She first served as a missionary and evangelist at Miracle Temple in Passaic, N.J., under the leadership of Rev. Lawson and their wife Annie. They worked tirelessly to reach the lost, set up community-based 5th Sunday Services and Wednesday night prayer & bible study activities. Rev. Catherine & Rev. Ike and Rev Catherine were called to plant Anchors of Hope ministry in Passaic, N.J. They both diligently worked as co-pastors, providing prayer, marriage counseling, and outreach to families devastated by drugs and alcohol. They continued their ministry in Braddock, PA, Zelienople, PA and then on to Columbus, Ohio until Pastor Isaac Roberson's death.
Rev. Roberson’s ministry was transformative. Her preaching, filled with passion and conviction, inspired hope and change in the hearts of those who listened. She organized various training workshops, such as Breaking Free from the Past that utilized interactive teaching methods and customized materials. She authored an impactful training manual called Personal Evangelism focused on equipping people to build loving relationships and share the gospel with their friends, relatives, and neighbors.
She was the beloved matriarch of her family, a role she embraced with grace, wisdom, and a profound sense of responsibility. Each week, she dedicated time to intercessory prayer for her loved ones, covering them in faith and seeking God’s blessings on their behalf. Her prayers, often described as both powerful and sensitive, were a source of comfort and inspiration for her family and anyone who sought her counsel. She was working on a new training manual entitled "The Master Builder' focused on re-building the pieces of broken lives.
She leaves to mourn Her Daughters, Iris (Edward) Copeland of Oklahoma & Ellen (Jerry) Sims; of Texas; her grandchildren, Roger (Stefanie) Bradley Jr., Isaac (Cassandra) Edwards, Danah (Jarmal) Anderson all of Oklahoma & Christopher Spencer of Colorado; eight great-grandchildren; D.J & Damire Joseph, Niko & Mila Bradley, Braylon & Cameron Udeze, Jasmine Edwards and Journie Anderson all of Oklahoma; and her brother Carl Dupree of New Jersey & sister Mary (Gary) Jones of Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
