Charles Ernest Allen, 69, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, went to be with Jesus on February 5, 2015, surrounded by his wife and 2 daughters. He was born February 7, 1945, to Will and Ollie Allen, in Portales, New Mexico. He was one of twelve brothers and sisters. When he was 5 years old, his family moved to Post, Texas, where Charles attended elementary through high school, graduating in 1964. He attended Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University), where he met Judy Sims as they both attended the same church. They were married June 8, 1968 at Hazel Park Church of the Nazarene in Michigan. He began working as a custodian at Baptist Hospital then moved into a pharmacy purchasing position. Later he worked in this same capacity at Children’s Hospital, from which he eventually retired. He then did freelance purchasing work for Clay Kennard. Charles and his wife Judy started attending Calvary Church of the Nazarene in 1964 while in college at Bethany. They were both members of the “Calvary Crusaders” singing group. It was during this time that Charles became a Christian. Since attending Calvary, Charles has tirelessly fulfilled numerous roles: church treasurer, Sunday School superintendent, door greeter, usher, choir member, attendance counter and recorder, groundskeeper…everything but preacher. He loved his church and its people. His Pastor, Jim Hill, recently said of him, “It’s going to take 6 people to take care of everything Charles did at Calvary.” He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister Alice, brothers Will (Minnie) and Earl, brother-in-law Loyd Tivis, sister-in-law Carolyn Allen, nephews Cody Allen, Marty Allen John Gray, nieces Janice Carroll, Darlene Gray, Jeanene Holloway (Casey), great nephew Derrick Chambers, great niece Lisa Mae Luce, and great great great nephew Brody Allen.
