Charles Eugene Doyle was born April 8, 1926 in Oklahoma City. His proud parents were Audrey and Roland H. Doyle. Gene attended Central High School, but during World War II he quit school and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as an Electrician Mate 3rd Class in the Pacific. Gene returned to Oklahoma in 1946 and enrolled in Oklahoma A&M Veterinary College. On June 30, 1950 he married Joan Marie Bizzell. Gene graduated with honors in 1952 and became a DVM. Gene and Joan moved back to Oklahoma City and he opened Northwest Animal Hospital in Warr Acres. Gene was beloved by his clients; he never hesitated in going back to the clinic to handle an emergency. The animals were lucky to have him as their veterinarian. When Gene closed Northwest, he became a licensed real estate broker and also sold motorcycles. Gene's love of animals prompted him to open Central Animal Hospital in Oklahoma City from which he retired in the 1990's. Gene's love of life included: his family, fishing, golf, restoring old cars, searching for a bargain, and he became a master brewer and baker. He passed away after a brief illness surrounded by his family and his ''darling daughters”. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joan, and his brother, William ''Hack'' Doyle. Gene is survived by his daughters Donna and Dr. Jerry D. McCan and their children Bess and Jeremy; Jane Weir and her sons Dexter and Warren; his niece, Diana Doyle and members of the Bizzell family. Graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Monday, April 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM. We have lost another member of the “Greatest Generation''.
