Charles Michael Tyree of Oklahoma City, passed away July 8, 2022. Mike was born in Oklahoma City on November 16, 1955. He was the younger of two children born to Charles Leroy and Mary Margaret (Erickson) Tyree.
Mike graduated from Putnam City High School and attended various courses in the electronics field. He spent most of his life residing in Oklahoma, with the exception of 8 years where a job transfer led him to York, Pennsylvania.
Mike was a businessman who started two companies; Pro-Tech Electronic Repair and C & M Stump Grinding. For 17 years, he worked for Dedicated Logistic Solutions and was known to always go above and beyond not only for his family, but the people he worked with as well.
He and his wife, Cathy, became members of Victory Church in 1996 and though the Lord called them to a different church temporarily, they always considered Victory their church home. Mike was also a dedicated member of the NRA and the DAV.
Mike bled “Crimson and Cream” with years and years of attending OU football games with his Dad. Some of Mike’s other favorite memories consisted of spending time at the family-owned cabin in Cuchara, Colorado where he loved relaxing, listening to the stream, fishing, playing with his son Toby, and spending time with his family.
On December 31, 1986, Mike married the love of his life, Cathy. Mike had met Cathy in 1980 where they worked together at Central Repair. He used his child-like antics to catch the attention of his future wife by constantly teasing and shooting rubber bands at her. Five years after they married they had their daughter, Ashley, who completed their family. Mike and Cathy went on to spend 35 amazing years together.
Throughout his lifetime he taught so many how to love unconditionally, be patient, diligent, and selfless. He was truly a “Gentle Giant” through and through. If you’d ask him what he loved most in this world, he would reply, Jesus first, then family and friends, drums, OU football and jalapeño pizza, in that order! Mike loved to laugh and to make others laugh, though at times he could be reserved, he was definitely a cut-up.
He was a self-taught drummer. His drum collection and passion for the art continued to grow through the years. Playing the drums came naturally to him and he was happiest when he was using his God-given musical abilities to help lead the church in worship. He expressed how honored and overjoyed he felt to be a part in helping people become closer to the Lord.
Mike is preceded in death by his son, Toby Michael Tyree; mother, Mary Margaret Tyree and his sister, Leisa Jean Huddleston.
Mike’s legacy will forever be celebrated by his father, Charles Leroy Tyree; wife, Cathy Tyree; daughter, Ashley Wilson, son-in-law Brandon Wilson; two grandchildren, Zach and Landon Wilson, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held Thursday, July 21st at 5:00 p.m. with reception following at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73162
Consider the Ravens
I won’t pretend to understand this
Or why it ended up this way
But if somehow you could reach me
I know you’d tell me it’s ok.
You would tell me that you’re sorry
And that you’ve felt this pain before
But consider how God cares for the ravens
And how our worth is so much more.
I won’t find you in the graveyard
Where the black bird angels roam
To remind me you’re not there,
You just finally made it home.
You’d say,
I know this ache within you
Falling heavy on your chest
But remember the One that holds it all
In Him, you’ll find your rest.
Through Him the dead can breathe
And now I’m one of them
For He remains the Root
And we are but a limb.
And though the winds of grief may strike you, swaying in the cold
Draw strength now from the Roots
That hold you anchored from below.
For as the tree brings shelter
And within, the ravens nest
Find comfort in these things
And in this hope and faith, invest.
So keep breathing through the pain
Though time to time your heart will tear
Remain within the Light and Truth
And someday I’ll see you there.
I know the rain seems never ending
And like you’re drowning from within
But hold fast to the Anchor
And someday we’ll meet again.
-Ashley (Tyree) Wilson
