Charles Edwin Weed

He grew up in Capitol Hill and went to Capitol Hill High School in their “glory” years. He loved sports and participated in several. Charles married Mary Ella Shepherd in 1956. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served for four years. After his honorable discharge, he finished college Central State University. He went on to OCU and received his Master's Degree. At this same time having three children: Jeff, Scott and Jill.

He worked at Lucent Technology for 34 years and retired as a company buyer. Charles became a Christian in 1996 through BSF and was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Gideon's.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred Weed. He is survived by his wife Mary Weed; children Jeff and wife Margery, Scott and wife Bobbi, Jill and husband Joey; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Charles has been ill over a year with dementia but continued to know and love his family. We will miss him greatly.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2018 at Metropolitan Baptist Church.
