

Chester C. Calderwood (Chet), 83 year-old resident of Midwest City, OK, passed away Jan. 12, 2014 in Midwest City, OK. Born April 17, 1930 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, he was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Floyd G. Calderwood. Chester was an engineer for many years at Tinker AFB. In his work travels, he travelled very far and extensively, including Alaska, the Philippines, Korea and India, where he contracted spinal meningitis and rode on elephants as a means of transportation. Tour stops with his wife and daughter included Germany, Hawaii, Australia, and Ireland. He loved fishing, hunting, traveling, dancing, softball, and bowling. He belonged to Tinker Heritage Travel Group and the Retired Citizens Travel Group. Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Maxine Hawkins; and Margaret Calderwood, wife of 57 years. Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Calderwood of Midwest City; one son, Greg (Christine) Calderwood of OKC; special companion for the last six years Madeline Schooley; three grandchildren, Lechelle Calderwood of Bethany, OK; Joshua (Laura) Calderwood of OKC, OK; and Amanda (Ryan) Smith of OKC, OK; three Great-Grandchildren, Dylan and Ava Calderwood; and Calista Smith; one sister, Lois Hoffman of WI; and special niece Kathy (Dan) Brown of WI. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., OKC, OK with burial to follow in Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, OK.
