

Consuelo “Connie” B. Pettibone peacefully passed away at her home in Piedmont, Oklahoma, where she lived for over twelve years. She was born on March 21, 1916 in Bakersfield, California, and departed this world on February 28, 2017 at the age of 100. Connie was considered the matriarch of her family, and will be missed by many in the Bakersfield and Piedmont communities.
Preceding her in death: her parents Leon and Luz Anaya; brothers John, Leon, Fred and Fernando Anaya; sisters Louise Gonzales and Marie Yanez; nephews Frank Anaya, Joe Anaya, Leonard Anaya, Richard Anaya, Freddie Anaya, Cyril Gonzales, John Gonzales, Robert “Billy Boy” Gonzales and Joseph “Joey” Gonzales; and nieces Delores “Loli” Anaya, Betty Barron, Jerry Meath, and Helen Gonzales.
Connie is survived by her son James Wimmer, daughter Victoria Pettibone, and daughter-in-law Terry Wimmer. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews: Norma Neal, Dorthea Stevens, Linda Anaya, Juanita “Sweetie” Vasquez, Eleanor Lozano, Evelyn Anaya-Aguayo, Ventura Ruiz, Larry Anaya, and Robert Anaya. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Chandra Wimmer, Matt and Jamie Sarr, Justin and Connie Green, David and Tonya Tyler, and Richard and Stacie Elston. Connie’s great-grandchildren will also miss her: Cody Murray, Corey Murray, Emily Sarr, Darcy Sarr, Claire Nuno, Frankie Nuno, Gabriel Nuno, Sara Nuno, Diego Nuno, George Gutierrez, Elliana Gutierrez, Lewis Green, Taylor Tyler, Jacob Tyler, Alexis Tyler, Alyssa Elston, Dalton and Lyndsey Parker, and Krystena Adams. Connie also has numerous grand-nieces and nephews. She leaves behind lifelong friends: Maria Canez, Peggy Rickles, Beverly Anaya, Maria Elena Alderette, and Esther Martinez.
Connie lived over eighty-nine years in her beloved city, Bakersfield, California. While in Bakersfield, Connie worked for a short period of time at the Kern County Fire Department. The Kern County Public Works Department employed Connie for thirty-five years as a bookkeeper. Connie retired from Kern County in 1973 with several awards and honors. She volunteered for Community Service Organizations since its inception, where she met Cesar Chavez, and helped in the Mexican-American community development. In 2005, Connie moved to Piedmont, Oklahoma with her son James Wimmer and daughter-in-law Terry Wimmer.
Services will be held at 1 p.m on March 6 at Guardian Funeral Home West Chapel, located at 5820 NW 41st. St. Warr Acres, Ok. 73122. Interment will immediately follow the service at Resurrection Cemetery on Northwest Expressway. Connie’s family requests your presence at noon for a reception honoring Connie’s long and illustrious life. Lunch will be held at Guardian Funeral Home before services.
