

Dan Mathis was born October 18, 1935 to Bueary and Golda Mae Mathis in Checotah, Oklahoma. He died at his home on March 9, 2016, at the age of 80 after an extended illness. He graduated from Checotah High School in 1955. He attended Connors State College and graduated from Northeastern State University in 1959 with a chemistry degree. He spent 43 years as a chemist at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring once and returning back to work at the same job for an additional 13 years.
Dan is survived by his wife, Jessie, of 53 years. He is also survived by two sons, Dan Mathis II (Danny) and wife Tracee and Darren Lee Mathis and wife Sheri. He is survived by 5 grandchildren, Brendon, Brett, Parker, Carter and Grace. He is also survived by Jessie’s brother and sisters and many nieces and nephews who regarded him as their brother.
Dan loved his family, work, fishing, pigeon racing, and gardening. He was a hard working family man and was loved and will be missed by many. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel with interment at Elmwood Cemetery Choctaw, OK.
