Darla Elizabeth Burris

Darla spent her early years in Muskogee before moving to Oklahoma City in 1987, where she would spend the rest of her life. She graduated from Putnam City North High School and built a life centered around love, music, and family.

Darla had a deep appreciation for R&B, Jazz, and Classic Rock. She found beauty in pastel colors and peace in the soft rain of an autumn day. Her laughter often echoed through the room as she reminisced about cherished memories. She had a unique gift for teaching others the value of family and the importance of keeping loved ones close.

To those who knew her, Darla will be remembered first and foremost as a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her heart belonged to her family, especially to her beloved son, Keith Len Thomas Jr., and to the memory of her late husband, Keith Thomas Sr.. She later found love again and was remarried to Norvell Burris.

Darla is survived by her son, Keith Thomas Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; her mother, Barbara Reed of Oklahoma City, OK her brothers James Ford of Wichita, KS, and Milton Leroy Reed Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; her sister Tracey Allen and husband Maurice Allen of Oklahoma City, OK; as well as four nieces and two nephews who brought joy to her life.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Kidney Specialists of Central Oklahoma for their compassionate support and for sponsoring a meal for the family during this time.

Darla’s warmth, laughter, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of life for Darla will be held Monday, August 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
