On December 24, 2OIO, Dee Dee Dixon Rund passed too soon from this life, as a result of leukemia. Though her life was cut short, she did not suffer, and peacefully joined her father Joe M. Dixon and her son Jonathon Rund in heaven.
Dee Dee faced her illness the way she lived her life: with calm dignity and grace. She embraced every moment with optimism and never complained. Throughout her journey, Dee Dee was deeply touched by the kindness and support of friends old and new, colleagues, employees, and the entire community.
Dee Dee was born on February 18, 1967 in Oklahoma City to Connie and Joe M. Dixon. She was an accomplished equestrian. She graduated from Deer Creek High School in 1985 and attended college at the University of Oklahoma where she joined Zeta Epsilon Tau. Dee Dee married her soul mate Kevin Rund in 1990. She grieved the loss of their first child,
Jonathon, who died at birth in 1991. She is the proud and loving mother of Morgan Rund age 17, Emmery, age 12.
Dee Dee loved to have fun with her family and her sisters, and was especially close to her family. She loved and admired her parents and each of her sisters. Her children were the center of her life. She enjoyed making jewelry, reading scary mysteries and her favorite activity was going to the movies with Kevin.
Dee Dee served as President of Oklahoma City Abstract and Title, a company founded in 1907 by her paternal great-grandfather. Having worked in the company from the age of 14, Dee Dee accepted this leadership role two years after the death of her father in 1998. She embraced this responsibility with great humility and a “servant--leader" spirit, always conscious of preserving the legacy of her ancestors.
For eight years Dee Dee was a member of EWF International, and was loved and respected by her fellow members. She could always be counted on for wisdom, and for delightfully funny stories, told with unassuming humor. While refreshingly open, she never needed to be the center of attention. She loved to learn, took numerous leadership classes and enjoyed applying participatory management skills.
Dee Dee was a member of the Oklahoma Land Title Association (OLTA), the American Land Title Association (ALTA), and represented the company with the Edmond Board of Realtors. She had a special affection for St. Mary 's Episcopal School, where her children attended school.
Dee Dee is survived by her mother, Connie "CR" Dixon, her beloved husband, Kevin Rund, her daughters, Morgan and Emery Rund, her siblings, Shelli Dixon Reid, Amber Dixon Patterson, nephews Anthony & Cooper Reid, and niece Tiffany Webb.
