Dewey Allan Farrington, 85, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on February 18, 2025. Born on January 15, 1940, in Ringwood, Oklahoma, Dewey was the son of Ashley Filmore Farrington and Mabel Lee Van Etten.
Dewey graduated from high school and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961, where he worked as an aircraft electrician. After his military service, Dewey lived most of his life in Oklahoma, with a few years spent in Texas, before making Oklahoma City his final home.
Dewey was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to everything he did. He was the proud owner and operator of Farrington’s Towing and Recovery up until he retired. Dewey was respected for his integrity, and he always did what he said he would do. He was deeply committed to his work and always willing to lend a helping hand to others.
Outside of his professional life, Dewey had a great passion for visiting military and aviation museums, and traveling.
Dewey was a member of several professional organizations, including Towing and Recovery Association of America, Oklahoma Wrecker Operators Association, and the Oklahoma Transportation Association. He formed lasting friendships through his work in the towing and recovery industry.
Dewey married Mary Ann Bradstreet on January 3, 1962, and they shared many happy years together before her passing in 2003.
Dewey is survived by his son, Robert Farrington, and Robert’s wife, Beverly, both of Yukon, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Brandon Farrington, Kalena Farrington, and Katie Cooper and many great grandchildren. Additionally, Dewey leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish his memory.
Dewey is further survived by his brother Rex, and his sisters Leatha and Gayle. Dewey was preceded in death by his brothers Bois, Kirk, Leslie, and his sister Naomi.
He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann (2003), second wife, Marty (2011), and third wife, Roxy (2019).
Dewey’s memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, his commitment to hard work, and his generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service Celebrating his life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the International Towing Museum Survivor Fund or the National WASP WWII Museum.
