Donald Ray Hall was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Sam Hall and Zelma Taylor. He was the youngest of their children and grew up alongside his siblings: Sonny, Kaye, and Ernestine.
Donald attended several trade schools and developed skills in welding, carpentry, and management. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the Big Red One unit.
Throughout his life, Donald lived all over the country, including Washington, Arizona, and California. Following his retirement from Boeing Aircraft, he settled in Oklahoma in 2009.
Donald loved every color. No matter what the shade, he wore it well. His idea of a perfect day included California-like weather where it was sunny, but still cool enough to enjoy being outdoors.
He enjoyed watching game shows such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, as well as classic television programs, including In the Heat of the Night. He loved cooking barbecue and spending time on the patio with his beloved wife, Tammy, and faithful dog, Camille.
One of the most significant people in Donald’s life was his psychologist, Dr. Rasken, who recognized and diagnosed his PTSD when others had not. Through his care and support, Dr. Rasken helped Donald on his journey toward healing and managing his condition.
Donald was a devoted member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. On July 4, 2012, he married the love of his life, Tammy Reddix, in a private ceremony. The couple chose to elope and shared a loving marriage together.
Donald would want to be remembered as a good father and a loving, caring husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Hall and Zelma Taylor; his brother Sonny Hall and his wife, Marylynn Hall, of Phoenix, Arizona; his sisters, Kaye Hall of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ernestine Hall of Dallas, Texas; and his son, Donald Ray Hall Jr. of Seattle, Washington.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Hall; his children, Dorunda Hall of Atlanta, Georgia; Rochelle “Valerie” Hall of Seattle, Washington; Sherellis Solomon and her husband, James Solomon, of Seattle, Washington; Brenda Bouldin and her husband, Brian Bouldin, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Gary Hall and wife Kay of Los Angeles, California; twelve grandchildren and twenty four great-great grandchildren; and two fur babies Spoc and Camille.
