Dorothy Louise “Lucy” was born in Bennington Oklahoma in 1919 to Mattie Bell Steelman and Samuel A. Blundell. She went to paradise to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ June 1, after a wonderful life. She graduated from Carnegie High School in 1938. She attended Oklahoma City University with a B.A. and Masters of Arts in creative writing. Dorothy had many accomplishments and one she was proud of was being accepted into the Who’s Who of America and the Da Vinci Diamond Award of United Kingdom, plus various other awards for her poetry and writings. Some of her writings have been nationally published in Best Poems of 1997 and in 1980, The Scarab and Journal of Oklahoma City community. She was a faithful member of Northside Christian Church for many years. Dorothy has always been a native Oklahoman and loved to frequent its lakes. She resided in North Quail Creek community in which she was active in the homeowners association for many years. She broke the barrier for a male dominated profession, in the retail spirits and wine business, and was always highly respected by her peers for the last 50 years. She remained active in her business until recently and has turned over the operations to her family. She has been interviewed by local and state media for her accomplishments and they have emphasized her influence in the retail business as a remarkable woman. Dorothy was married to Dee W. Moody from 1940 until 1948, to Ray E. Johnson from 1949 to 1974. She is survived by sisters Imogene of California, Laverne of Seattle, Washington. Son Randy R. Moody Sr., Frances Ann Perdikis, life Partner. His sons, Dr. Brent Warren Moody, (Kelly), Randy Roger Moody, Jr., and four great grandchildren, Coleman, Carter, Cooper, and Isabella Moody. Her son, Dr. Charles R. Johnson, (Nancy), granddaughters, Amanda Louise and Grace Ann, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother Alford, and L.A. “Dooley” Blundell. Viewing will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK. 73116. Graveside services at Rose Hill, Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Following services, the family will be having a reception at North Side Christian Church, 2526 NW 122nd, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. All please come to celebrate Dorothy’s life. For those who knew her, she was one of the most benevolent women the world has ever known and she was deeply loved by those whose lives she touched.
