

Dorothy Elizabeth Carpenter was born on Jan. 10, 1923 in Union City, OK. to Herman Henry and Elsie Jungherr Klepper. She went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2017 after a long fought battle with congestive heart failure. Dorothy married Herchel Clyde Carpenter on April 29, 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church, in Okla. City, OK. She was a housewife until entering the work force in the late 1950’s at Sol Kamenesky Drug Company as an invoice clerk and later as a sales rep. After Kamenesky’s went out of business, Dorothy went back to homemaking. In the early 1960’s she joined her beloved husband at work at Horn Seed Company. She remained there, working along-side Herchel until his death in 1997. She continued working at Horn’s until she retired in the mid 2000’s. Dorothy has always been proud of her Lutheran heritage. She was baptized on Jan. 20, 1923 in Union City and was confirmed on May 30, 1937 in El Reno, OK. Dorothy and Herchel were members of Faith Lutheran and Grace Lutheran, Okla. City. In the mid 60’s they joined Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Bethany, OK. After Herchel’s death, Dorothy remained active in whatever capacity she was asked. In later years, she cherished her “Tuesday with Friends” group.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Fritz Mussyal; brothers-in-law, Curtis Porter, Jack Henthorn and Charlie Mussyal; brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Betty Klepper; brothers, Raymond Klepper and Herald Klepper.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Elsie and Bill Robinson of Okla. City; granddaughter, Cathy Clouse and husband Todd of Edmond; great granddaughter, Cayla Clouse of Stillwater; great grandsons, Max Clouse of Edmond, Zach Clouse of Winfield, KS.; brothers, Roy Klepper of Okla. City, Don Klepper and wife Carolyn of Mustang; sisters, Laura Henthorn of Okla. City, Lorene Mussyal, and Betty Porter of Mustang. Dorothy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors who remember her fondly and will miss her more.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Lutheran Church of Our Savior (Bethany, OK) in Dorothy’s name.
The family would like to thank the loving staff at Baptist Village Rehabilitation Center for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation will be 8a-5p Wednesday at Guardian West Funeral Home (Warr Acres).
Services will be 1pm Thursday at Lutheran Church of Our Savior with Pastor Dwayne Schroeder officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery (Wheatland).
