Dorothy Dee Coate

She was born August 20, 1923, in Greenwood, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Harold and Frances Bauer Nichols. Dorothy was graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Ponca City, OK, class of 1943. She was united in marriage to Charles M. Coate, in Ponca City, OK. in January 1946, he preceded her in death. After graduation she was employed as a Telephone Operator in Ponca City, OK.

Dorothy was a devoted Mother to her daughter Georgia Shipman.

She was a member of the St. John the Baptist’s Catholic Church in Edmond, OK.

She is survived by her daughter, Georgia Shipman of Edmond, OK, two Grandsons, Michael Shipman (Cary), Christopher Shipman (Geana), four Great Grandchildren, and two Great, Great, Grand Children, all of which brought endless joy to Her. Dorothy's siblings are Anne Lorsbach of Tempe, AZ. and Donald Nichols of Sun City West, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Parents, and Sisters, Katherine Nichols, and Ruth Larson, of McPherson, KS.

Dorothy (Dee) will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery, located at 1040 South Waverly Street, Ponca City, OK, 74601, US. The service is scheduled for February 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
