Dorothy Guhlstorf Ekonen was born November 3, 1923 and went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2016. She graduated from Central High School in 1941. She worked for Prudential Insurance Co. for 5 years. During WWII, she met her husband Tauno O. “Don” Ekonen. They were married after the war was over. She taught Sunday School for over 30 years at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City and Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, where she was also Sunday School secretary for 5 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her daughter Emily Louise Schultheiss. She is survived by her husband, Don, of 70 years, her daughter Barbara Ann Bonham of Oklahoma City. She has two grandchildren, Michelle Rice Siebert (Mathew) and Bradley Rice (Becky) and five great grandchildren. There will be a visitation Sunday 12pm-8pm with family present 2pm-4pm. The funeral will be held Monday, February 15, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City and burial will be at IOOF Cemetery in Norman, OK, where she and her husband lived for 38 years.
