Dorothy Hannah Mayfield, 94, passed away on September 9th while at Bellevue Nursing Home. She was born in Webb City, MO, on March 15, 1920 to Mary M. Williams Hannah and Merle Hannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Charles Sherman Mayfield. She graduated from Classen High School in 1936 and went to O.U. She married Charles Mayfield on August 30, 1938. They were married for 73 years.
She is survived by two sons: Charles Henry Mayfield and wife Caroline, David Michael and wife Kathy; grandchildren: David C. Mayfield and wife Alishia, C. Scott Mayfield, and Michelle Everett; great grandchildren: Nicholas and Madelyn Mayfield and Courtney Everett; niece and nephews: James L. Provines II, Robert W. Provines, Steven J. Provines, Colleen Oakley and Sherman Courtney.
Dorothy was a gourmet chef, a passionate bridge player and very lucky bingo participant, and a friend to many. She belonged to Col. John Starke, Sr. DAR chapter, to the Oklahoma Branch, The Huguenot Society, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of OKC.
A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Monday Sept 15th, 2014 at 11 AM at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, OKC OK 73116.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Meadows Center for Opportunity, 1000 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK 73003.
