Dorothy Corrinne Morey (“Keene”) went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 25. She was born September 13, 1924 in May, Oklahoma, to Jacob and Anna Mae Coonce. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Raymond; brother, Carl and sister, Catherine (“Tacky”) Lowery.
In 1947, Dorothy married her childhood sweetheart and soul mate, Raymond. They had one son, Ronnie. She was a remarkable lady with many talents. She painted, sang, was a passionate and patient piano teacher instilling a love for music in her students, an organizer of the Miss Laverne Pageant, owner of Morey Flowers and volunteered many years for the Harper County Election board. Dorothy loved sports, especially basketball and was a staunch supporter of Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns and, most recently, the Thunder. She stood side by side with her husband at Morey Rexall Drug. She loved their Ranch and all of its animals. She taught her grandson, Tyler, to love the land; how to bottle feed a baby calf in the Ranch kitchen or how to clean and dress a wild turkey. Because of both Dorothy and Raymond, Tyler spent many summers enjoying the blessings of a small town and its good people. Dorothy had an infectious laugh, twinkly blue eyes and loved anything that sparkled. After the death of Raymond, she moved to Oklahoma City and quickly won over the hearts of the staff of The Mansion at Waterford. She called them “her babies” and they called her “momma”. Dorothy loved her dinner table “girls”, Wanda, Lois, Judy, Helen and Vera.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Ronnie, wife Debora and their son, Tyler, who was adored by both Raymond and Dorothy. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Dudley, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express our deepest thanks to all who cared for her at The Mansion and Crossroads Hospice – especially LaQuita. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 North Shartel with Dr. Randall Spindle officiating.
