Dyril Wayne Robertson “Papaw”, age 77, of Moore, OK, passed away May 6, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born November 27, 1935 to Robert and Cora Robertson in Holdenville, OK. He graduated from Holdenville High School Class of 1953. Dyril joined the United States Army National Guard at age of 16 in Holdenville and joined the United States Army in 1958, serving his country in Germany until being discharged in 1960. When he returned home to Holdenville, while dragging Main Street in his White 1957 Chevy, he met Vernona Sanders, who was driving her 1957 Ford Fairlane, and they were married in 1961. Let it be known, that Vernona’s Ford was always running, not the Chevy. Dyril loved cars and owned many, many cars during their marriage. Dyril began working at age 18 for Hudson Funeral Home which later was owned by Jim Phillips and became Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home. They moved to Fayetteville, AR, and Dyril began working for Gibson Stores. This move began him working in the retail business. He spent many years in management retail and retired from TG&Y after 18 years and many other retail stores. He loved tinkering around in his work shed, feeding his birds and squirrels, making birdhouses, watching John Wayne westerns and reading Louis L’Amour books. But his favorite pastime was fishing! It didn’t matter when or where as long as he could get a line in the water. He passed on this love for fishing to his daughters and his grandsons. Dyril is survived by his wife, Vernona of 51 years; two daughters: Cindy Robertson and Teresa Butler and husband, Mike; two grandsons: Mason Spratt, Justin Perry and wife, Samantha; three great-grandchildren: Jack, Logan, and Holly; sister: Karon and William Foster and their two daughters; his extended family, Blair and Cheryl Rossing; April, Ric, Raven and Hanna Trent; BJ, Brody, and Kady Rossing; his best friend…his rotten Schnauzer, Seminole; and many other family members and friends.
