

Elmer Louis Bright (6/1/1921-11/18/2014) passed away peacefully at his home in NW OKC surrounded by his children & their spouses. He was preceded to the next life by his wife of 69 years, Wanda Lu & is survived by 8 children, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. He graduated from Crooked Oak High School in 1940. As a young man he was a gymnast & a boxer & attended the University of Oklahoma studying the sciences. CMSGT (Ret) Bright, a 32nd Degree Mason, lived a robust 93 years & proudly served his country for 25 years in the Army Air Force, later the US Air Force. He served during WWII, Korean & Vietnam conflicts. In his Air Force career, Elmer was a pilot, photographer, intelligence operative, & electronics instructor. He helped map the Amazon River, was witness to the raising of the Berlin Wall, & helped track soviet bombers flying on cold war missions. At the height of the cold war, he served his country overseas in England, Germany, & Turkey. Elmer took so much pride in his family. He was unselfish and loving. His adventurous & outgoing nature also created adventures for his family. He taught his family by example & lived the values that he taught. He was inspiration to many & will be remembered always as a man of integrity & honesty.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK. Burial will follow full Military Honors rendered by the U. S. Air Force Honors Detail in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, Oklahoma.
