Eloise PaskVan Peters Witt, affectionately called Granny Pete, left us Sunday, March 16, 2014, to join Jesus, and the family members that preceded her, in heaven. Eloise was born July 12, 1917, in Cumberland Tennessee to Thomas Allen and Ova Page Abston, the eldest of 5 children. She was love personified and that love will always be a part of the family she left behind. Husband: Kenneth Witt; Sons: Joe (Shay) and David (Sandra) PaskVan;
Stepdaughter: Mary Witt Kirby (Tim); Grandsons: Joseph K. II (Jennifer), Damon (Lori), Stuart (Melinda Long) PaskVan, and Chris (Jeanne) Rouk;
Granddaughter: Jill PaskVan Flowers; Great Grandsons: Daniel, Joseph K. III “Trey”, Joshua, Zachary, Max PaskVan and Austin Rouk;
Great Granddaughters; Amanda (Jeff) Grogan, Lynsie Rouk, Keiryn Flowers, Julia PaskVan, Ashlyn and Caitlyn Doss; Great, Great Granddaughters: McKenna and Madilyn Grogan; and a great number of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Although she was born in Cumberland, Tennessee, her formative years were lived in Harriman, Tennessee. When she was an older teenager, her family moved to Oklahoma City. She married Joseph Kline PaskVan at age 17. When he became a Southern Baptist minister, she fully collaborated with him in God’s work where they pastored in many churches in Oklahoma. Eloise felt that one of her proudest accomplishments was as the Director of the first Southern Baptist Youth Camp in Western Oklahoma. When, at 36, she became widowed, she entered the field of food service and was extremely successful. She believed that her proudest career achievement was being selected the Food Service Director to open Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City in 1959. She was also selected to be a member of the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Restaurant Association. Her entire adult life was dedicated to serving God by immersing herself in all types of Christian activities. She blessed many with her wit, wisdom, and witness.
Eloise was married to Clyde Peters from 1973-1992. They were active members at Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City.
