Florine Louise Banke was born on Jan 12, 1925 in Pilot Point, TX. Both of her parents passed away when she was around 6 yrs old and Florine was sent to live with her Aunt Marie in Oklahoma. One day at church Florine was standing in the pew smiling at the Hink family behind her. The husband made the statement that she was “so cute that he wished he could just take her home with him.” The next week at church, an overwhelmed Aunt Marie approached Mr. Hink and asked him if he meant what he had said. Following a conversation with his wife Annie, Thees Hink relayed the message to Marie that they would gladly raise young Florine. This amazing act of kindness changed Florine’s destiny and she adored being the child of Thees and Annie Hink.
Florine graduated from Cushing High School. She relocated to Tryon, OK for a decade in the mid 1950’s. She lived for 15 years in Edmond before deciding to call South OKC her home in the mid 1970’s. She worked for 10+ years as a bookkeeper at Baptist Hospital in OKC. She spent many years as the bookkeeper for her son John’s manufacturing shop.
She was a 20+ year member of the Trinity Free Will Baptist Church in OKC. She enjoyed making stained glass artworks, traveling, going to the casino, and gardening. Florine was a classy and reserved woman who was feisty and independent. She was a talented seamstress who made beautiful quilts and needle-point projects. She made so many wonderful memories during her 95 years of life and she will certainly be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Theese and Annie Hink and four siblings. She is survived by her three children: Danny Correll, Donald Correll, and John Johnson; 7 grandchildren: Dee Dee, Dawn, Delmer John, Jolinda, Jenny, and Christy; as well as numerous, great grandchildren and other beloved family members.
