Floyd Eugene Morrison, 93, went to be with Jesus on March 15, 2020, after falling nearly two months earlier and never fully recovering. He was born November 16, 1926, in Washington, Oklahoma, the eldest of ten children belonging to Arthur and Florence (née Stephens) Morrison. He married Viola Smith on July 27, 1946, in Oklahoma City. Three daughters were born of this marriage. Shortly after getting married, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Occupied Japan until May 1947. He worked 42 years at automotive dealerships, including Greenlease-Moore Cadillac, Morris Chevrolet, and Smicklas Chevrolet. After Viola was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he visited her daily at a nursing home near his place of work until her death in 1990. He married Mae (née Davis) McClain on May 12, 1995, in OKC. After Mae was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, he cared for her until her death in 2006. He was also a very active member of Southwood Baptist Church in OKC until its location on S.W. 59th and Western was shuttered in 2006. More recently, he attended church services at South Lakes Church in Oklahoma City. A self-taught musician, he could play guitar, banjo, dobro, mandolin, and fiddle; he loved to pick a tune at local nursing homes and family gatherings. Gospel hymns and classic country music were his favorites.
