When he was eligible to do so, he enlisted into the US Army as World War II was ending. After bootcamp in Ft. Lee Virginia, he then served in the Korean War and continued his service until July 5, 1956 having served 9 years, 8 months and 27 days.
He and the love of his life, Rosemary (Binam) Evans were married on August 4, 1954. They were married for 51 years.
After the military he was employed at Tinker AFB as an Electronic Technician until his retirement in 1983 at the age of 55.
After settling his family on an acreage in Harrah he went on to build his home and enjoyed a large garden. He also enjoyed watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, bowling and working on all sorts of projects.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Rosemary, granddaughter Kristina Evans, daughter in law Rebecca Evans, his parents, and sisters Oleta Miers, Georgia Zook, June Branson, Carmie Wickham and Rhea Raymond. He is survived by his sons Terry Evans, Danny Evans and wife Beverly and daughter Lucinda Hunter and husband John all of Harrah, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters Regina Pursell, Dickxie Brizendine, brother Riley Veatch and numerous other family members.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah, OK under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, OK.
