Helen Lee (Pitcock) Lofstrom,89, of Oklahoma City, OK passed peacefully into the Lord’s Presence on January 28, 2020 with family at her side. She was born September 10, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Fagan B. and Antis Lee Pitcock. Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 12 after hearing two traveling evangelists speak on a Sunday morning at First Baptist Church in downtown Tulsa. She was then baptized by immersion by Dr. J.W. Storer. She grew up in Tulsa attending Lee Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High and graduated from Central High School in 1948 and briefly attended the University of Tulsa. She married Hugh A. Kirkland in 1950 and became a homemaker and very busy mother of 4 young children. Hugh and Helen divorced in 1959. Helen worked part time at Sears & Roebuck. She was thrilled when she was hired full time at North American Rockwell Tulsa. While working at Rockwell, Helen met the true love of her life---her beloved and fiercely proud Marine: Oscar M. Lofstrom. They married on Christmas Eve 1967 and were happily married until Oscar’s passing in 2010. In 1968, they moved to Cerritos, CA with 3 teenage children. Helen began a new life adventure learning to drive California freeways and a new job at McDonald Douglass Long Beach. She developed many lasting friendships, learned to crochet and to do beautiful needlepoint while there. She and Oscar returned to Oklahoma in 1972. They settled in Oklahoma City as Oscar went to work for Rockwell in Bethany and Helen embarked on a new career in Real Estate. She loved helping people find the right home and excelled as a Real Estate Agent with Bob Linn Real Estate attaining President’s Club and Million Dollar Sales Status. Helen and Oscar attended All Souls’ Episcopal Church where Helen served on the Altar Guild. Helen loved scouring antique stores, junk yards, thrift stores and garage sales with her daughters and granddaughter. She loved having garage sales even more and was the family Queen of bargaining; getting the best price for every item and often more than it was marked. She was an avid reader, loved jigsaw puzzles and playing cards and board games with her children and grandchildren. Helen loved her family unconditionally and selflessly. She invested in each family member with a deep and uniquely personal love relationship with each one. She was a joy to know and was loved by all who knew her. She found her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She brought a smile to everyone with her most beautiful smile! She is survived by her daughter Deborah Morris and husband Stan of Broken Arrow, OK, grandson Randy Morris and Ann Lung of Berkeley, CA and grandson Chris Morris and wife Ronna of Sacramento, CA, her son Greg Kirkland and wife Sue and granddaughters Katie and Kelly Kirkland of San Francisco, granddaughter Candice Payton of Fortuna, CA, daughter Karen New and husband John and grandson Brad New and wife Marie and great-grandsons Jackson, Charlie and Zeke of Yukon, OK, granddaughter Megan New of Oklahoma City, OK, grandson Scott Kirkland and wife Brandi and great-grandson Jett and great-granddaughter Isla of Granada Hills, CA, stepdaughters Holly Nelson and grandson Chad of Surprise, AZ and Wanda Moore and husband Bass of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and grandsons Tyler of Costa Mesa, CA and Todd Moore of Santee, CA, her sister Jerry Pitcock Askew and nephews Rick Askew and Tim Askew of Tulsa, OK and several cousins. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oscar, her son Larry Scott Kirkland, great-granddaughter Chloe Kirkland and niece Katherine Louise Askew. The family extends special gratitude to Rev. Jim Easter, the loving Staff and caregivers at Brookdale Village and Emerald Square Assisted Living Centers and wonderful hospice nurses Pam and Shannon. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Mary’s Chapel of All Souls’ Episcopal Church under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors. Interment at Ft. Sill Military Cemetery.
