

Herbert Eugene, born January 12, 1924 passed away on August 7, 2010. He was born in Oklahoma City to Mabel Elizabeth and Thomas A. Brown. He graduated from Central H.S. in May 1942. Upon graduation he was employed at Tinker Field AFB in flight testing. In 1943 he was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps and ferried military bombers to Europe and the Pacific. In 1946 he was discharged and went back to Tinker. During his 42 years of service he was an aircraft mechanic, aircraft accident investigator, logistic office and branch chief. After his retirement from Tinker Field AFB in 1985, he worked at Remington Park for approximately ten years.
In 1945 Herbert married Wilma Bernice Brown and was a devoted husband of more than 65 years. He is survived by his wife Wilma Bernice, and three children; Michael Brown of Yukon, Jan Scanlan of Frisco, TX. and Cherie McCann of Overland Park, KS., six grandchildren; Michael S. Brown, Christopher Leland Brown, Christie Scanlan, Sean Scanlan, Taylor Nicole McCann, Patrick Michael McCann and five great-grandchildren; Emma Brown, Ava Brown, Jack Scanlan, Collin Scanlan and Caroline Scanlan.
Memorial services are 10:00am, Sat., August 14th at Guardian Funeral Homes West Chapel. Internment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
