

Howard Duane Swanson passed away on Oct. 31, 2013. He was born Jan. 16, 1934 in Jamestown, NY to Harold T. and Jean Smith Swanson. He served in the USAF during the Korean War and was honorably discharged May 21, 1957. Howard is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, of the home and his beloved children, Mark Swanson of Phoenix, AZ, Mike and Bernadette Swanson of Albuquerque, NM, Kim and Adam Frederick of Yukon and their mother, Evelyn Swanson. His surviving grandchildren are Denara Manning-Wofford, Ian and Joshua Swanson, and Taylor, Jessika and Kole Frederick. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Present of Rolling Hills, CA, niece Cindy Dilts and nephew Chris Olsen, stepsister Barbara McAtee of Vienna, WV, Vicky and William Langford of OKC and Lisa Rowlette of Bedford, TX , as well as their children Katie Butler, Erin Langford, Nicole Rowlette, and Corwin Rowlette and two special great-grandchildren, Hunter and Juli Butler.
Howard retired from the FAA having been an Instructor and Electronics Technician. He also was self-employed as owner of Northwest Residential Properties. As a faithful member of Church of the Savior, Howard served two terms as Elder and one term as President of the Congregation. Howard had many interests and loved to go RVing, play bridge and other card games, and always maintained an interest in sports. In their later years, he and Margaret lived at Concordia and made many friendships there. He will be greatly missed.
Interment will be at Bethany Cemetery on Tues. Nov. 5 at 1:00 pm followed by a Memorial service at Church of the Savior, 5600 N.W. 63 at 2:00 pm the same day. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Church of the Savior.
