He grew up in Tonkawa, and became an Eagle Scout in 1953. After attending Northern Oklahoma College, he attended and graduated from the University of Oklahoma undergraduate and Law School in 1961. He started his Federal service with the Department of Treasury in 1961. After serving with commendation in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964, he returned to Oklahoma City for a 28 year career of dedicated service with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service. On May 30, 1966, he married his lifelong bride, Shirley Querry. Together, they raised their son Ross, and daughter, Connie.
Jack embraced a strong patriotic spirit which was exemplified by his service. He served faithfully and with passion as a board member of the Federal Employees (Allegiance) Credit Union from 1979-2018. This included leadership as the Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1983-1996. He also served on the Oklahoma County Board of Adjustment from 1996-2018. His commitment to service extended with membership and contributions to the Oklahoma Bar Association, American Legion, National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Oklahoma Historical Society, Oklahoma Genealogical Society, Sons of the American Revolution, and First Families of the Twin Territories.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son Ross Querry, his daughter Connie Taylor, six grandchildren, Brent Querry, Blaine and Kaylyn Duncan, Erik, Daniel, and Joshua Taylor, and his great grandson Hunter Jack Duncan.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Guardian Funeral Home West Chapel 5820 N.W. 41st Warr Acres, OK at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Jack has requested donations be made either to the Boy Scouts of America or St. Jude’s Hospital.
