Born in Oklahoma City, OK June 2, 1929, Janice graduated Central High School and attended Oklahoma State University studying art and interior design. After marrying and raising two children, Janice went on to work and retire as Senate Bill Engrosser for the Oklahoma Senate. Her next, and happiest, twenty-eight years were spent as a member and volunteer for the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum sharing her unique laughter, knowledge and love of the art with young and old visitors from near and far lands.
Throughout her active and creative life art prevailed as she worked various mediums, especially porcelain painting and fiber arts, sharing this knowledge with many budding artists. Janice was also an active golfer, knitter and master bridge player loving not only the activity but the social relationships built over the years.
Janice was preceded in death by her first husband, Don H. Neufeld, her second husband Donald L. O’Bryan, and her sister Billie Donelda Wheatley. She is survived by her son Michael H. Neufeld, wife Barbara, three grandchildren Robin, Abby, Tyson, five great-grandchildren, her daughter Doni R. Neufeld and Donelda’s son Mathew Wheatley.
Our heartfelt thank you goes to her friends and neighbors for their kindness and our deepest appreciation goes to her wonderful caregivers, Renee and the Centric Hospice staff especially Deanna, Crystal, and Whitney for their compassion and commitment to ensuring Janice was comfortable at home among family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Stephenson Cancer Center, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences.
