

Dorothy "Joan" Danner, 85, went home to be with our Lord, Tuesday June 20, 2017 in OKC, Oklahoma. She was born July 29, 1931 in Drumright, OK to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Arnold. Joan was an amazing and loving wife, mother, and friend. She had a charisma about her that was contagious. She touched so many lives with her generosity and selfless compassion. For those that knew her, you know that her hugs were as beautiful as she was.
Joan attended Oklahoma State University for one year and soon thereafter married Jack Danner, June 22, 1950. They doodle-bugged around Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas with a geophysical surveying group for two years. They then lived in Tulsa, OK for two years before settling down in OKC in 1955.
Joan attended Putnam City Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and played the piano in her Faithful Believers Sunday School class for many years.
Joan volunteered for numerous organizations including a special needs program at Putnam City Schools and the CONTACT Crisis Hotline.
In addition to raising her four sons, Joan taught Sunday school, was an officer for the Woman's Missionary Union and worked at Cake Decorator's Delight.
At the age of 50, Joan went back to school and became a Registered Respiratory Therapist and worked at Deaconess Hospital for 10 years.
Joan is preceded in death by their son David Danner of Franklin, TN.
Joan is survived by her husband Jack Danner of Warr Acres, OK; daughter in-law, Judy Danner of Franklin, TN; sons, Clarke Danner and wife, Doreen of Fort Worth, TX; Dr. Russell Danner and wife, Melinda of OKC; Dr. Jeffrey Danner and wife, Ashley of OKC; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 24 at Putnam City Baptist Church, 11401 N. Rockwell Avenue, 73162.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
