

John N. Carver of Oklahoma City was born in Wapanucka, Oklahoma, and graduated from Rosedale High School. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather & friend. He was a decorated WWII Veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor. His Army Signal Corp service continued in SW Pacific, Guadalcanal and the Philippines, where he served as Master Sgt and Platoon Chief. He received the Bronze Star Medal for outstanding courage and leadership, the American Defense Medal, Asiatic- Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon, among other commendations.
He had an outstanding 38 ½ year perfect attendance career with SW Bell Telephone Company, where he spent many years as an outside plant manager/engineer. He had many life-long AT&T friends and was a member of the AT&T Pioneers, an avid golfer & loved to travel the United States.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Marybelle Culver Kerby Carver; daughters Mary Ann Kerby Asfahl, her husband Paul and Nancy Kerby; sons Bob Kerby and wife Jane; Joe Kerby and wife Carolyn. Granddaughters Julie Asfahl McGlinchey, Nicole Asfahl, Angela Asfahl Winn, Jill Durbin Keuth and Lauren Kerby; Grandsons Chris Kerby, Kasey Kerby, Jeremy Kerby, Chase Kerby & Clark Kerby Pahlka and spouses; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including his niece Phyllis Blackwell and husband, Bob and sister-in-law Lee Carver. He was preceded in death by his parents Dave Melton and Dossie Hudman Carver, his brothers Dee and Fines Carver and sisters Irene Richardson, Tressie Anderson, Bessie Kuykendall and Ruth Smith, his first wife June Carver, and his son Paul Douglas Kerby.The family thanks Ron Milton for his service as caregiver and Integris Hospice. Visitation at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 Northwest Expressway, OKC 73162, on Wed. May 14,2014 from 5 pm- 8 pm; Funeral service Thursday May 15, 2014 at 2 pm at Grace Methodist Church, 6316 N. Tulsa Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73112; interment afterward at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Grace Methodist Church.
