We are given the gift of time on Earth. Jon Hoerman lived a full life for 78 years. He was and is dearly loved, and forever impacted the life of his family and friends.

Life has many seasons. The first season, spring, of Jon’s life began in Clinton, OK on September 13, 1942. This is when Jon began his life journey of scheming pranks, playing jokes, and teasing. His sister, Jolen, survived his torment. Jon learned to love the outdoors, hunt, fish and develop a strong work ethic of integrity and working hard.

Summer season sent Jon to South Western State Oklahoma College where he met his life partner Carolyn, married, and started a family. Together they raised four children: Torri, Brent, Kurt, and Jared. This season began with graduation in Weatherford and his first teaching position in Lakewood, CO. Lakewood is where Jon was baptized in October 1965, and began his life with God.

Autumn began on October 24, 1994, when Jon survived a severe heart attack and quadruple by-pass surgery. Prayers were answered and the good Lord blessed him with nine healthy grandchildren and gave him the gift of time to cherish and enjoy life while he continued working. His love for God deepened and memories were being made.

Somewhere between fall and winter retirement dreams were fulfilled when Jon and Carolyn moved to Canyon Lake. They built a house overlooking the lake. Jon planted an orchard and garden. He enjoyed working outside and fishing in the lake. Jon loved to eat Carolyn’s homemade meals. Meals were often enjoyed outside while appreciating the view of nature and the lake. Watching his children and grandchildren have fun and enjoy the lake brought Jon deep fulfillment. Jon’s prayers changed and he became a prayer warrior. We believe our family has been protected because of his prayers.

But Jon saw the poverty around him. His compassion and generosity motivated him to begin the food pantry. He worked as hard and as long as his heart allowed. Every year was a gift but each year his heart grew weaker, and work became more laborious. Winter crept in slowly. They made the decision to move from the life they loved in the country to Yukon where Jon would be near the Heart Hospital and the upkeep more manageable. Jon continued walking as much as he could. He continued to dream and pray for family and friends. We all knew dad prayed for us. Jon’s life was filled with beautiful sunsets. March 14th, God called him home and the sun went down on Jon’s life. We rejoice in the life he lived yet mourn the deep canyon he has left in our hearts and lives. The love our earthly father, Jon, showed us enabled a better understanding of the love God the Father has for us. Thank you for helping us remember and honor Jon at this time.
