Joshua Lawrence Everett Dixon passed from this life on Oct 15, 2018. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services located at 7720 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Oklahoma City. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 10:00am at Putnam City Baptist Church located at 11401 N. Rockwell Ave. in Oklahoma City.
Josh was born on October 1, 1987 to Steve and Dawn Dixon in Oklahoma City. He attended Carl Albert High School, graduating with the class of 2008. Following high school, he enrolled in the criminology program at Rose State College with aspirations of becoming a police officer. In 2011, he joined the United States Marine Corps and went to basic training at Camp Pendleton before being stationed at Camp Lejune. He later met Denae Griffiths and in 2013 they were married. Josh and Denae raised three children together; Jonathan, Haileigh and Adelyn. Josh spent a couple of years doing installation work for AT&T. In 2016 he attended American Truck Training in Oklahoma City where he received his truck driving certifications. He went to work for Consolidated Freight as an OTR truck driver. He would go on to work for CPI and Black Mesa Trucking, a job he took so he could be home with his family more often.
Josh enjoyed cookouts with his friends and watching OU football games. Music was a huge part of his life, and he loved all types of rock music and listened to it often, especially while driving. Josh loved fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and ford trucks. He attended Putnam City Baptist Church for 6 years and enjoyed his time there. He was a generous guy who enjoyed volunteering for various veterans’ charities placing wreaths and flags on veteran’s graves. Josh will be remembered as being helpful and a talkative co-worker.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joy Sprole.
Josh is survived by his wife Denae Dixon; three children: Jonathan, Haileigh and Adelyn Dixon; parents: Steve and Dawn Dixon; two sisters: Jessica Bendily and husband Jason, Jennifer Garrett and husband Aaron; his Grandma and Grandpa Dixon and his Grandpa Sprole.
