

Dr. Karl K. Boatman, age 100, passed away on April 4, 2025. He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on March 19, 1925, to Arthur Samuel and Beatrice (Turner) Boatman. He was the beloved husband of Barbara for over 55 years.
Karl attended Okmulgee High School before graduating from San Diego High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II before attending the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree in 1952.
For more than 73 years, Dr. Boatman worked as a general surgeon, specializing in breast cancer. His distinguished medical career spanned several prominent hospitals in Oklahoma City, including Baptist, Deaconess, Mercy, and Presbyterian. He was widely recognized and sought after for his expertise in breast cancer treatment. A dedicated member of numerous medical boards, Dr. Boatman impacted countless lives through his skill, compassion, and dedication to his patients.
Outside of his medical career, Karl was passionate about a variety of activities. He cherished fishing with his children and grandchildren, flying, golfing, shooting, water and snow skiing, horseback riding, and hunting. An ardent supporter of the University of Oklahoma, Karl was a devoted fan of the Sooners and thoroughly enjoyed attending their sporting events.
Dr. Boatman is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Boatman; daughters Cynthia Peterman (Doug) and Molly Herbst (Edward); and son, Scott Boatman (Zuleyka), 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered not only for his remarkable career but also for his love for his family, friends, and the Oklahoma community.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8005 Dorset Drive, Nichols Hills, OK 73120.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dr. Boatman’s name to Christ the King Church and breast cancer research, a cause close to his heart.
