Katie Ellen McBride, 35, beloved wife, daughter, and sister passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2025. Katie was born on June 28, 1990, in Wichita, Kansas and moved to Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 5 with her parents and sister. Katie devoted over 7 years of her life in service of the community and those in need, first as an EMT, then Paramedic before being promoted to District Chief at EMSA.
Katie was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, and friend whose kindness and humor left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She met the love of her life in 2021, and together they built a home filled with laughter, compassion, and their cherished dogs – Beth, Aero, and Elie.
Katie was dedicated to her work as a first responder and deeply committed to serving those around her. She will be remembered as being steady under pressure, fiercely compassionate, and always willing to lend a hand. Outside of work, Katie’s adventurous and quirky spirit was readily apparent in all she did. She loved playing guitar, working on special building projects, and spending time with her family.
Katie is survived by her wife, Miranda McBride; her mother, Cindy McBride; her sister, Kylie Glover and husband Steven; her brother, Josh McBride and wife Wendy; nieces – Faith, Brooklynn, Presley, Mia, Emmeline – and nephews – Oaklan and Steyr; and many extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Ken McBride, and her grandparents.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and a celebration of Katie’s life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Both events will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, located at 6600 Broadway Extension in Oklahoma City.
Katie was a passionate supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and a steadfast advocate for equality and acceptance. In honor of Katie and in aligning with her wishes, we ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Pivot, Rainbow Youth Project, or Diversity Center of Oklahoma.
Katie’s light, humor, and generous heart will always be remembered.
