Lee Warren Young, age 61, passed away on May 22, 2022, at home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Lee was born on August 9, 1960 in Oklahoma City to Jean Warren and Stanton L Young. He was the second of three children.
After attending Casady, he earned a degree in Finance from Babson College – a business school in Wellesley, MA. Lee went on to found Young Energy, an oil and natural gas company located in Oklahoma City.
Lee had a passion for horses, and was committed to animal welfare. He served on the boards of Nexus Equine and the Oklahoma Humane Society. He also served on the Dean McGee Eye Institute, World Neighbors, The University Hospitals Foundation, Presbyterian Hospital, and First National Bank of Oklahoma. Lee was particularly proud to present the Stanton L Young award each year. Named after his father, the award recognizes an outstanding faculty member of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
Lee was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.
Lee is survived by his wife Laura Young; daughters Anna Lee Young, Alexandra Wright, and Claire Foltz; sons Stephen Young, Carter Wright, and Trevor Wright; and sister Marie Elise Howard. He was predeceased by his parents Jean Warren and Stanton Young, and his sister Carol Young. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to OU Children’s Hospital or Dean McGee Eye Institute.
