Lindsay was a proud graduate of Permian High School where he was an integral part of the football community. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was an avid fan of the University of Texas particularly baseball.
Lindsay’s experience as an entrepreneur began in the ostrich business, selling boots made from hides in the location now known as McClintock’s Restaurant in the historic stockyards of Oklahoma City. He used his culinary skills to shape the menus over the years. This restaurant was a welcoming space for friends, family and the community to gather.
Lindsay Ocker was a voting member of the Shriners Children's Shreveport Board beginning in 2013 and serving as treasurer from 2019-2021. He was awarded his Emeritus membership in December of 2021. He served on several committees during his time on the Board, serving several years on the board’s executive team as Treasurer which was the position he held when he became an Emeritus member. Lindsay regularly traveled from his home in Oklahoma to Shreveport, Louisiana for meetings and other events at his own expense to help ensure that Shriners Children Shreveport continued to provide the best care possible for the children they serve. He volunteered his time to help raise funds and increase awareness to support the Shriners mission to help children. Lindsay was a hard-working member of the Shreveport Board of Governors and was well liked by all who had the opportunity to work with him.
Lindsay was a former member of Nichols Hills Methodist Church. He served on several committees. He never turned down the opportunity to furnish a “funeral ham” and not just for funerals.
He is survived by his mother Kathryn Ocker, brothers Kyle and wife June, Lon and wife Kris and five nieces and nephews: James, Alicia, Kate, John, and Jacob.
A celebration of his life will be held at McClintock’s Restaurant on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00pm. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and the lasting friendships he built throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Shriners Children:
