Lucy June Wood

Lucy June (Burton) Wood passed away November 22, 2010. June was born March 30, 1931 at Sentinel, OK, the daughter of Alma and Orval Burton. June was preceded in death by her parents, brother N.J. Burton and sister Mary Anna. She is survived by her husband Walter Wood, Jr.; sons Charles (Chuck) L. Masters and wife Pat, Ricky S. Masters and wife Vera; daughter Lora Black who was not a daughter by blood but June chose her as a daughter and said on many occasions that she saw Lora as her daughter; grandchildren Stephany L. Masters, Steven P. Masters, Patrick M. Masters; brother Donnie W. Burton; sisters Helen F. Timothy and Coreena S. Townsend. June took pride in many accomplishments: a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with honors with a Masters Degree in Social work. She worked as a Visual Rehabilitation Counselor for the state for 23 years, she was a loving sister to her brothers and sisters and she raised two successful children. June was an active member of her church. She loved her Lord and loved the people of the church. One of her most cherished dreams was fulfilled when her grandson began preaching the gospel. June wanted to be a wonderful wife and she was and Walter (her husband) looks forward to standing before Jesus with her for an eternity. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 26, 2010, at Shield Boulevard Baptist Church with interment following in Rose Hill Burial Park.
