
Margaret grew up in McLoud and graduated from McLoud High School. On July 14, 1953, she married the love of her life, Melvin Kay Hood. Their devoted marriage lasted 72 years and was blessed with deep love, strong faith, and a close-knit family.
Together, Margaret and Melvin created loving homes and lasting memories in Oklahoma City, Warr Acres, Hodgen, and finally Piedmont. Margaret was a dedicated homemaker who poured her heart into caring for her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also worked at the Ham Radio Bookstore at the FAA Aeronautical Center, where her kindness and strong work ethic were greatly admired.
She had a lifelong passion for music and enjoyed a wide range of genres—from country and western to rock and roll, jazz, pop, R&B, and theatrical performances. Margaret also found joy in the creative arts of cooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She generously shared her handmade gifts and delicious meals with family and friends, brightening their lives with her warmth and thoughtfulness.
A faithful member of Christ Reformed Church, Margaret’s Christian faith remained a guiding light throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Melvin Kay Hood; her son, Paul Ray Hood; her daughter, Melanie Kay Richey; her grandchildren, Cara Pourtorkan and husband Justin, Ashley Webster and husband Brandon, and Marshall Troy; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Ethan, Shawn, and Landon Pourtorkan, and Ainsley and Addison Webster. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Margaret will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to family, and the love she expressed through every meal prepared and every stitch sewn. Her welcoming home, generous heart, and radiant kindness created a legacy that will live on in all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
A private family burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery.
