Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother peacefully passed away in her home on July 11, 2025 at age 91. Margy Stipes Messenbaugh was born in Texas on Christmas Day 1933, soon moved with her parents Marguerite and C.A. Stipes and older brother Robert D. Stipes to Altus, Oklahoma before her family’s ultimate relocation to Oklahoma City. At Classen High School, she met Joseph F. Messenbaugh III whom she would eventually marry while in college at The University of Oklahoma. Anne Kathryn Messenbaugh Crum (Bruce) was born the first year of her father’s medical school training, Joseph Mark Messenbaugh (Kathleen) the second year and David Robert Messenbaugh (Patricia) the fourth year. Margy’s legacy includes four grandchildren: Patrick Colvert Griffin (Stephanie), Andrew Joseph Griffin (Leona), Adriana Messenbaugh Aylagas (Luis) and Natalia Messenbaugh Dial (Douglas). Also included are great-grandchildren Audrey, Brooks, Sophia and Eliana Griffin. We believe that our mother has now been gloriously reunited with our father whom she had so missed since his death nearly 4 years ago. Through Mom’s passing, we are gifted faith, grace and hope of eternal life. May we continue to walk in beauty on this Earth with gratitude and joy until we too join the heavenly celebration. Victory is Mom’s!
Mother
To one who bears the sweetest name
And adds a luster to the same
Who shared our joys
Who cheered when sad
The greatest friend we ever had
Long life was hers, and there’s no other
Can take the place of our dear mother.
We wish to extend our profound gratitude to caregivers Paula, Mary and Patsy who with unswerving kindness and compassion facilitated our mother’s ability to live out her final years in the comfort and peace of her home. In Mom’s last days, hospice was invaluable in her care. Of special note, for nearly 40 years of weekly service often accompanied by floral bouquets, Manisone S. gifted unsurpassed loyalty and devotion to our parents.
In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be sent to World Neighbors, INC., 5600 N. May Avenue #160, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
