She was born in Brawley, CA on September 14, 1935, to Vena Mae and Roland G. Skipper. Marilyn met the love of her life, T.E. “Dick” Stubbs, in Los Angeles, CA in 1955. They were married for 42 years before Dick passed away in 1997. Together they raised four children, Denise Buthion, Myrla Pierson (husband Gary), Dick Stubbs Jr. (deceased 1977) and Diane Cassil-Caballero.
Marilyn’s proudest achievements were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The grandchildren are Michael Buthion (wife Shannon), Kenny Cassil III (wife Megan Drue), Meghan Lemmings (husband Curtis), Kane Cassil (wife Olivia), Nicholas Pierson, and Carson Caballero (girlfriend Thao). Marilyn thoroughly enjoyed her eight great-grandchildren: Brayden, Bryce, and Beckham Buthion, Dylan and Wilson Cassil, Bennett and Madeline Lemmings, and soon to arrive Cora Cassil. Marilyn is survived by her sister, Jerry Atkins, numerous sisters and brothers in law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was proceeded in death by her brother, Ronald G. Skipper.
For twenty years Marilyn worked in the beauty industry as the “Hair Traffic Controller” with Nichols Hills Salon & Spa. Our family is grateful to Cherokee and Paul Mayfield, Delana Johnson, Hospice nurse Courtney and Hospice aide Jennifer for their loving care and support. Services will be held Wednesday, November 2 at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Service will be live streamed at facebook.com/nicholshillsumc.
