

Mary Beth was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she lived for 91 years. Her parents were Albert William and Evelyn Tuck Kruger. She had a brother, Albert W. Kruger Jr (Lillie) and a sister, Dorothy Kruger Venard (Daniel).
Mary Beth graduated from Bishop John Carroll High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. Later in life, Mary Beth earned a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. She married Robert E. Berney in September of 1952 at Our Lady Cathedral. Bob (deceased) and Mary Beth have five children: Robert E. Berney Jr (Bob) married to Jeanne, Joseph P. Berney (Joe), Elizabeth Berney Murray (Lisa) married to Jerry, Evelyn Berney Cox (Lynn) married to Edward, and Thomas William Berney (Tom) married to Stephanie.
Mary Beth delighted in being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her descendants are Jennifer Berney Kamas (Daniel) who have two daughters Claire and Alice; Jessica Berney; Katherine Cox Stanton (Cameron) who have a son Morgan and a daughter Maren; Madeline Cox Cannon (Trevor) who have a daughter Eleanor; Sean Berney and Liam Berney.
Mary Beth Berney was defined by her vocation of motherhood and generously shared her maternal gifts with others. She was known as Aunt Mary to many nephews and nieces, MB to life-long friends, and Mrs. Berney to the neighbors, boy scouts, and family friends. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling, water skiing, snow skiing, horseback riding, swimming in the farm pond and ocean, fishing with the boys, playing tennis and bridge, planting flowers in her gardens, and cooking delicious meals for large crowds. We are forever grateful for having her in our lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Monsignor Rick Stansberry at 10:00 am Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help located at 3214 N. Lake Avenue, Oklahoma City OK 73118. The funeral mass will be live streamed on www.youtube.com/@ourladyscathedral/streams. Immediately following the mass, there will be an inurnment ceremony at the Rose Hill Burial Park located at 6001 NW Grand Boulevard, Oklahoma City OK 73118. Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood MO and Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper in Oklahoma City will be handling the funeral arrangements.

We have a deep appreciation for all the loving Carmelite nuns, compassionate nurses, and diligent staff who cared for our mother so tenderly in the last year of her life.
