

Mary Lee January
Mary Lee January was born on October 3, 1938 in Port Gibson, Mississippi to Ben January and Mary Reynolds. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee when she was 3 years old. She accepted Christ at an early age. Mary will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter and the way she encouraged others with her kind words.
Mary was the proud member of the class of 1957 at Douglass High School in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a Flag girl for the Marching Band for 3 years. She continued her educational journey earning Keypunch Operator and Nurse’s Aide certificates.
Mary was a loving wife and mother who took care of her family. She loved baking her favorite carrot cake, smothered chicken, cabbage, and hot water cornbread. She loved supporting her sons school events which brought her joy. She also continued to support her grandchildren’s activities.
While married, she enjoyed traveling with her family. She traveled to Miami, Florida: Los Angeles, California; Denver, Colorado; Monroe, Louisiana; Atlanta, Georgia; Memphis, Tennessee; Quantico, Virginia; and Kansas City, Missouri. She spent two years living in Hawaii.
Mary became a Jehovah’s Witness and was baptized in 1965. She was a faithful member until her passing on March 7,2026. She was a full-time pioneer who served faithfully. She truly enjoyed serving Jehovah, by going door to door preaching and teaching about the kingdom. She was always excited to attend the annual conventions which allowed her to spend time with her brothers and sisters.
Mary was united in marriage to Henry Levingston Jr. To their union, two sons were born, Henry Levingston III and Rickie Levingston who were truly her pride and joy.
Mary was proceeded in death by her father, Ben January; mother, Mary Thomas; brothers, Henry Oliver, Roosevelt Cox, and Willie Thomas Jr.; sisters, Rosemary McGrew and Nettie Thomas-Kelly. She is survived by her brother, Robert Thomas of Kansas City, MO; sons, Henry Levingston III of San Diego, CA and Rickie Levingston Sr. (Nina) of Midwest City, OK; grandchildren, Rickie Levingston, Jr. of Midwest City, OK, Elijah Levingston of Forrest Park, OK, Carissa Levingston of Dallas, TX, and Isaiah Levingston of Midwest City, OK; with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones who will miss her tremendously.
