

Mary Jean Baker was born April 6, 1926, in Oklahoma City to William James and Juanita Agnes Buzbee. She married Sept. 22, 1945, to the love of her life, Ford Baker, whom she met at a Civil Air Patrol meeting. She left her mortal body on Friday, June 23, 2017, at the age of 91 and took up residence in her eternal home with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Fred "Ford" Baker; her parents; sisters, Charlene and Pat; and grandchildren, Michael Taylor and Vicki Baker. She is survived by six children, 25 grandchildren, and 53 great-grandchildren. Her children are Barbara "Bobi" Moore & husband Ron, of Portland, OR; Elizabeth "Liz" Roark & husband Mike, of Owasso, OK; James "Skip" Baker & wife Margo, of Del Rio, TX; Paul Baker & wife Caroline, of Oklahoma City; Thomas "Tom" Baker & wife Denise, of Moore, OK; and Sherri Haskins & husband Ronnie, of Del City. Her grandchildren are Bryn Moore, Julianna Moore, Sarah Blomgren, Ruthie Jourden, Ben Roark, Rachel Cooper, David Roark, Esther Consalvi, James and Michael Baker, Kendra and Miguel Gonzalez, Khara Adams, Matthew and Stephanie Taylor, Stephanie Dunn, Sean and Ian Baker, Kristie Weldon, Joseph, Naaman, Joshua and Levi Wood. She attended Classen High School and one semester at Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater. She had many jobs over the years, including switchboard operator, factory worker, office worker, and self-employed business woman. She operated three businesses until about the age of 88. But her main job was always taking care of her family. She taught them to clean, cook, be polite, dress appropriately, honor their parents, and be prepared to be adults. She never met a stranger, because she considered you family once you crossed her threshold. She never sent anyone away hungry. Services will be conducted this week at Southgate Baptist Church at 740 S.W. 4th, Moore, OK. Arrangements under the direction of Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, OK.
