Mary Jo Shipley

Mary Jo Shipley, 85, passed away December 3, 2012. Mary Jo was born January 9, 1927 in Tuttle, Oklahoma to Lee and George Grover Gragg. She attended school in Tuttle until she moved to Norman, where she graduated from Norman High School and also attended The University of Oklahoma. She married Wendell Richard Shipley and he preceded her in death in 2004. Mary Jo retired from the Oklahoma City Public School System after more than 30 years of working in administration. She was an active member at Crown Heights Christian Church where she was a Deaconess, involved in Christian Women’s Fellowship and Mobile Meals. Mary Jo’s hobbies included playing bridge, reading, her Bible study groups and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son John Dayne Unruh; sisters Jean and Ruth and brother George Jr. Mary Jo is survived by daughter Gayle Peacock and husband Warren; step daughter Gayla McKelvy; grandchildren Matthew Peacock and wife Megan, Korie Brox and husband Jacob, Kellie Peacock, Doug Unruh, Tony Unruh and their families.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Crown Heights Christian Church, 4020 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, with interment following in Rose Hill Burial Park.
