Mary Jo was born in Durant, OK the only child of Joe C. and Myrtle Lee Scott. She grew up in Oklahoma City, attending Harding Junior High and Northeast High School. While at Oklahoma A&M, Mary Jo met and married Weldon Kern. Together, they had four children; Mickey (Sally), Jerry, David and Laurie Jo.
Mother was proud of her involvement with Jr. Hospitality, but her pride and joy was that Tuesday Bridge Club (we are still wondering if they ever got the cards out) She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at A&M.
“Mimi” was adored by her grandchildren; Kristy Banning (Tom) of Austin, TX, Katie Finley (Tom) of Tulsa, and Emily Garrett (Robbie) of Edmond. The great-grandchildren are Sutton and Sloane Banning, Porter, Campbell and Ford Finley, and Griffin and Hudson Garrett.
The family would like to reach out to the wonderful staff at the Fountains at Canterbury and Good Shepherd Hospice.
Services will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper on Wednesday, November 9th at 2:00pm.
